Mexicana aircraft painted in oneworld livery to mark its alliance entry

Mexicana today unveiled the first of its aircraft decorated in the new standard oneworld® livery to highlight the addition of Mexico and Central America's leading airline to the world's leading quality airline alliance from midnight tonight.

An Airbus A320 from its mainline fleet and a Boeing 717 operated by its regional subsidiary MexicanaClick - which with MexicanaLink are also joining oneworld as affiliate members - are now sporting the special oneworld look.

Soon, one of its mainline Boeing 767s as well will be decorated in the alliance design - so the group will have aircraft in the oneworld livery flying on its regional, shorthaul and longhaul routes.

All of the group's remaining aircraft will retain the regular Mexicana, MexicanaClick or MexicanaLink livery, as appropriate - but now with a oneworld logo applied to their fuselages, by the front passenger door.

This is among the most visible elements of a massive rebranding exercise that marks the airlines joining oneworld tonight.

The Mexicana logo will be added to thousands of oneworld signs at the 700 airports worldwide on its member airlines' networks, on its website and on all oneworld branding used in the alliance's and its member airlines' advertising, publications and stationery, increasing awareness of Mexicana in the near 150 countries served by the alliance's carriers.    At the same time, Mexicana and its affiliates will feature the oneworld emblem wherever and whenever they feature their own airline logo.

The 21,000 customers in these top three MexicanaGO tiers have been sent new membership cards, bearing the oneworld logo, to ensure they receive their alliance benefits.

The oneworld aircraft livery was introduced earlier this year as the alliance celebrated its 10th birthday.

All of its established member airlines have already decorated a portion of their fleets - around 40 aircraft in total - in the design, which features the oneworld name in large letters, up to almost two metres tall, and the oneworld logo along the side of the fuselage, against a white or a polished metal background.

The name of the operating airline is placed in smaller lettering in a standard position at the front of the aircraft below the oneworld name and logo.  Each carrier also retains its own regular tailfin design.

Mexicana, MexicanaClick and MexicanaLink will offer oneworld's full range of services and benefits from the first flights tomorrow.
